Change in Leadership at FMS Wertmanagement: Dr. Christian Bluhm will hand over to Stephan Winkelmeier
Today, the Supervisory Board of FMS Wertmanagement elected the successor to Dr. Christian Bluhm, Spokesman of the Executive Board at FMS Wertmanagement.
In March, Bluhm had asked the Supervisory Board for an early termination of his contract, which matures mid-2017, so that he could pursue different professional challenges. His position as Chief Risk & Finance Officer as well as Spokesman of the Executive Board of the German federal government’s winding-up institution will be taken over by Stephan Winkelmeier as of 1 October 2015. Bluhm has agreed to stand by as an advisor to FMS Wertmanagement and its new Executive Board Spokesman until the end of 2015.
“The entire Supervisory Board very much regrets that Dr. Bluhm asked for an early termination of his contract, but we respect his personal reasons for doing so. Since FMS Wertmanagement was founded in July 2010, he has dedicated himself to establish and develop the federal government’s winding-up institution and – as the results show – he has done an excellent job. We thank him warmly for this. At the same time, we are delighted to have quickly identified Stephan Winkelmeier, an experienced and eminently suitable successor, to take on this important and challenging task. With the smooth transition in the fourth quarter and the prompt appointment of a successor, the Supervisory Board has ensured that FMS Wertmanagement can continue to pursue its value-maximising wind-up strategy,” said Jan Bettink, Chairman of the Supervisory Board of FMS Wertmanagement.
Stephan Winkelmeier (47) is Managing Director of the Senata Group, a medium-sized industrial holding company based in Freising. After studying business administration at the University of Passau, he worked from 1994 to 2008 at UniCredit Bank AG in Munich and its predecessor, Bayerische Vereinsbank AG, where he held various positions, including Senior Risk Manager. As head of the non-core unit, he gained extensive experience in reducing non-strategic risk positions. In September 2008, he took over the position of Chief Risk Officer on the Executive Board of Bank Austria Group in Vienna. In July 2010, he moved to the Executive Board of Bayerische Landesbank, where he held the position of CFO from April 2011 and then additionally of COO/CIO from August 2013, while also temporarily acting as CEO of the Internal Restructuring Unit.
Dr. Christian Bluhm (45) has been a founding Executive Board member of FMS Wertmanagement, which took over non-strategic assets of the HRE Group in October 2010 with a volume of EUR 175.7 billion in order to unwind them in a way that maximises value. In March 2012, he assumed the position of Spokesman of the Executive Board at FMS Wertmanagement in addition to his functions as Chief Risk Officer and Chief Financial Officer. Bluhm has a doctorate in mathematics and previously worked in risk and portfolio management for Deutsche Bank, McKinsey & Company, HypoVereinsbank and Credit Suisse.
